Today, we are going deep into the woods to paint this stunning Impressionistic Waterfall Forest. Now, I know what you’re thinking—"Ginger, look at all those details! Look at those splashing rocks!"—but take a deep breath. I promise you, this is much easier than it looks. In this lesson, I’m going to show you how to stop "petting" the canvas and start laying down the paint with confidence. We are going to use a loose, painterly style—almost like using a palette knife, but with our brushes—to create those chunky rock textures and that rushing water. In this tutorial, you will learn: The "Green" Secret: How to mix natural, mossy greens using Phthalo Blue and Yellow (no toothpaste greens allowed!). Water Physics: How to paint vertical strokes for falling water and horizontal strokes for the pools, so your water actually looks like it's moving. Light vs. Dark: How to use deep contrast to make that sunlight crashing through the trees really pop. Buttering the Bread: My favorite technique for applying thick highlights that sit right on top of the canvas.
