If you live in the East Bay, you gotta hear this. The corporate mega-party is trying to steal our Congressional seat in DC while everybody’s distracted with the wild news cycle. They think we’re so dumb that they’re barely trying to hide it anymore. The Governor and his billionaire friends picked millionaire puppet Lateefah Simon before anyone else was even in the race. Now she won’t debate, won’t take any questions from journalists about her record, and hasn’t even published a single policy position in two years of campaigning. Where the hell do they think they are? This is the East Bay! This is the birthplace of democracy in the streets, where we fight for rights, fairness, and real democracy. My name is Jennifer Tran and I’m born and raised right here in Oakland. And I’m running for Congress to keep Lateefah Simon and all these other fake political actors from ruining The Town and the rest of the East Bay. Look around. This isn’t progress. No wonder Lateefah won’t debate. She’s trying to hide her ugly record tearing apart our region by defunding the police and bankrupting BART. Now she wants to fail up to Congress to represent us? With this grotesque brand of rich man’s politics? Get out of here. Not in my hometown! We who live here are done with the theatrics. You say you're a fighter for all? Come down from your ivory tower in Emeryville with your personal servants and bodyguards. Stop hiding and meet me in the streets, with the community, and debate me like a real leader who can stand up for their own thoughts and ideas. Give the voters of East Bay what they deserve and debate me because you believe in democracy and you want the voters to see your track record, policies and vision. Show us.
