Feeding to Sleep: Myth vs Reality Feeding to sleep is often blamed for every night waking under the sun. Many parents are told that if they want longer stretches at night, the bedtime feed must go. But is that really true? In this video I share what I see every day working with families. For many babies and toddlers, feeding to sleep is the easiest and most calming part of bedtime and may not be the cause of night waking. Often the real culprits are things like not enough awake time, choice of daytime activity or calorie intake challenges. We look at: • Why feeding to sleep is not automatically a “bad habit” • When it can become unsustainable • Why changing the bedtime settle is never the thing I target first • How night waking can improve by addressing easier factors first • Why parents should never feel forced to give up what works There is a season for everything. If feeding to sleep is working for your family right now, it may not need to change.
