His mission was to propagate the congregational chanting of the holy names of Krishna—the yuga-dharma of this age. Born as Vishwambhara to the devout couple Sri Jagannatha Mishra and Srimati Shachidevi, He became renowned as Nimai Pandita for His scholarship. After embracing the renounced order of life (sannyasa), He was revered as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. During His first 24 years in Navadvipa, Mahaprabhu lived as a scholar and householder. The latter half of His life was spent in Jagannatha Puri, where He profoundly influenced society through Harinama Sankirtan and travelled across India, spreading the teachings of Srimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita.
