STEP 1: Start your professional ready position with your legs wider than shoulders and feel as if your NON-DOMINANT hand is doing all of the work for the two-handed backhand. At the club level, you should not hold your racket with a bent wrist. Instead, use a continental grip and the hands will have an easier time complementing each other. Using this grip is great because it will allow you to hit a two-handed backhand or a slice! STEP 2: Turn your body with your racket together, just like Novak Djokovic! This rotation of the body will increase the power on the backhand coming forward. When you rotate your body you stop at the point of contact and let the rest of the energy transfer into the left arm for your follow-through. STEP 3: For footwork, you need to step out with your left foot first(Right Handers) when moving to a ball that is two steps away. Work on gliding into your shots using the 1, 2 method! _____________________________________ For more tennis lessons visit my Website: http://www.performanceplustennis.com _____________________________________ About John Craig & Performance Plus Tennis _____________________________________ John is widely recognized as an accomplished and successful tennis coach, both in the online world and in Newport Beach, CA, where John has developed 100’s of players for over 30 years.
