This unit reflects on Hundertwasser’s work and his use of contour line. Students will explore starting points and line repetition to create an exciting artwork. Friedensreich Hundertwasser was an Austrian artist, born in 1928. He had a diverse practise that incorporated drawing, painting and printmaking. Hundertwasser was known as an artist, architect, writer, designer and environmental activist. In his practice, he worked towards a “dream-state” that strives to create a better world. This motif stemmed from his personal experience of the Second World War. His work was full of colour, strong imagery & he is well known for rejecting the straight line. He often mixed landscapes and portraiture together, creating a unique and distinctive style.
