Nkwaleni farm is situated in KwaZulu-Natal near the Goedertrou Dam and has a competitive advantage in the export market due to its proximity to the Durban port, which is approximately 150km from the farm. The Nkwaleni valley falls in the summer rainfall area and has a warm and humid climate during the summer and cool dry winters, creating an ideal environment for the production of lemons and grapefruit. The farm predominantly produces citrus, with most of the produce destined for export to the UK, Europe, Middle East and Japan. The farm has 420.40 hectares of arable land, of which approximately 271 hectares are in full production with another 2 hectares of young Valencia orchards, totalling 273 hectares of planted citrus. Nkwaleni’s crop comprises of Eureka lemons and Valencia oranges, red and white grapefruits and bananas.
