Hello and welcome back to my slow living vlog. Join me for a slow and simple early spring day at home and in the garden. I'm baking hot cross buns, working on some slow stitching on the cat paw pot holder I've been making, sowing some sweet peas, spending time in the garden, enjoying the daffodils, harvesting some bits and pieces for dinner, and cooking a simple evening meal. It's a slow and chill daily life vlog, I hope you find it relaxing. If you're new to my channel, hi! My name is Stéphanie and Eighteen and Cloudy is my slow living vlog where I share slow and simple, ordinary moments from everyday life, featuring the craft projects I work on, recipes I enjoy making and baking, and the food and flowers I grow in my rented city garden. If you enjoy this episode of my chill slow life vlog, take a look through my archives to get a feel for my channel and subscribe to keep in touch. 00:00 Cup of tea 00:42 Shaping hot cross buns 02:38 Slow stitching 04:11 Baking buns 06:57 A mini garden harvest 09:25 Daffodils and a forest bathing cat 10:42 Sowing sweet peas 13:38 Cooking a simple evening meal My hot cross buns recipe: 250g strong white bread flour 175g warm water 1/4 tsp sea salt 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon or mixed spice 1/2 tsp instant yeast 75g currants or mixed dried fruit A little bit of milk to glaze, I used soya milk. Combine the ingredients into a smooth dough, cover with a tea towel, and leave it somewhere warm to rise for 1 hour. Divide into 6 or 8 evenly sized portions, then shape as I do in the video. Cover the buns with a tea towel, and allow them to rise again for 30 minutes. Turn your buns out onto greaseproof paper in a lidded dish, and bake at 180C (350F) for 25 minutes. They should still be soft when they're cooked, the lid helps keep them soft. You can of course bake them in an open oven but the crusts will then be crispy. Not that it matters, both ways are lovely. Enjoy them warm with butter of some sort and maybe some jam or marmalade.
