As part of our Heritage and Awareness Month series, we’re proud to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride month with our guest, Vida Khavar, Clinical Director of Family Builders by Adoption, an inclusive nonprofit dedicated to building loving, permanent homes for children in foster care. Vida, a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience, shares insights from her early career as a therapist in a Southern California group home, her consultancy work for the RISE, a federally funded initiative through the Los Angeles LGBT Center supporting LGBTQ+ youth in systems of care and her journey to finding her professional home at Family Builders by Adoption. Vida highlights the essential work of Family Builders in advocating for affirming, inclusive policies and practices that support youth in foster care and empower lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals seeking to foster or adopt.
