Thai Basil Pork (Pad Kra Pao) | Super Flavorful One Plate Meal You Need to Try

Thai Basil Pork is a dish that my family can truly eat every week. It's super flavorful and it comes together in one pan, though you can also opt to add a fried egg on top (we highly recommend). It’s one of those dishes that’s pretty low effort that ends with a super tasty result that also reheats really nicely for left overs if you’re looking to prep for later in the week. We really love spice, and especially Thai chilis, but this recipe is really flexible in that you can choose whatever chilis suit you and your family best! Not a spice lover at all? We’ve made this recipe with diced bell peppers and it comes out just as delicious. We hope you give this recipe a try and get to enjoy some delicious Thai food in your own kitchen. Ingredients (2-4 servings) 1lb ground pork (80% lean 20% fat) 1 yellow onion 4 cloves of garlic Thai chilis (as many as you like! or sub with any chili/pepper of choice, even a bell pepper counts!) 4 tbsp fish sauce 2 tbsp soy sauce 3 tbsp sugar 1 cup loosely packed basil eggs Recipe (2-4 servings) 1. Finely dice your yellow onion, mince garlic and slice Thai chilis 2. Heat a pan on medium heat and in some neutral cooking oil 3. Add in ground pork and a pinch of salt and break apart into small pieces and brown for 6-8 minutes 4. Add in onion and garlic and cook until caramelized 5. Add in fish sauce, soy sauce and sugar and mix to coat all the vegetables and pork 6. After the sauce has cooked down for a couple of minutes, add in Thai chilis and basil 7. If the mixture is getting too dry, feel free to add in a couple of tablespoons of water to loosen the sauce 8. If desired, fry a crispy egg on high heat with plenty of cooking oil 9.
