vlog # 30 - New Year's Eve in Aspen, Colorado! Split up the Aspen vlog this time into two parts so this is part 2 and you can watch part 1 here! • Christmas in Aspen ❄️ ⛷️ Skiing at Snowmas... I experienced my very first powder day. I understand the hype now. Did all the Blues at Buttermilk and my favorite runs were: Ptarmigan, Buckskin, Lover's Lane, and Bear. Finally got to go down Columbine at the base of Buttermilk too. At Aspen Highlands, I didn't do any blacks yet, saving that for next trip! Also saving Aspen Mountain for when I can ski fast. I'm still a beginner and my ski instructor said I'm a level 5 to 6. My favorite Blue runs on Highlands were: Apple Strudel, Red Onion, and Exhibition. I also can get down from Cloud Nine now via Meadows. I did Smuggler down once too and that was pretty challenging for me based on the steepness. The main way down at Aspen Highlands called Jerome is pretty steep and gets crowded fast, so I recommend taking a group lesson the first time! They split you up based on your skill level and my lesson ended up being me and another girl. It was so much fun chasing our instructor down the hill in pure powder. He called me giggles because everytime I'd hit a bump and it would make me go fast I'd start laughing and saying weeee so I can shift my energy to "this is fun" versus "holy sh*t I'm going too fast." lol. Sharing this for all the other beginners like me who need tips on where to go so you don't end up on a black that you're not ready for. By the way, safety first at all times and wear a helmet. Already dreaming of my next trip back to Aspen. Most likely will be 2024 since we've got the wedding and honeymoon this year! Plus my bachelorette before. :) My goals Aspen skiing will be going down my first blacks, definitely want to check out Aspen Mountain, and one day I want to hike the bowl and ski down. I also want to level up my ski length and type. These baby skis (124 cm) get very rickety when you're going fast and don't do too well in powder (it floats way less than powder skis) so I want to definitely keep leveling up! December 2022: my third trip to Aspen and first time spending Christmas here! I took a direct flight from LAX to Aspen airport (ASE) on December 20th and we stayed in Aspen until New Year's Day 2023! SO grateful for family and friends that took us in during the whole trip. February 2022: my second trip to Aspen and I took a group lesson again. First time on blue runs! • Aspen Colorado Vlog ❄️ Beginner Skiing @ B... December 2021: my second time skiing and we went to Sunshine Village in Banff, Canada • Christmas in Banff | Getting locked out in... January 2021: my first trip to Aspen was January 2021 and it was also my first time skiing as an adult. I went once in 7th grade to Big Bear, CA. I did one bunny hill, didn't know how to stop, and never went back out. My first trip to Aspen, I did a first time private lesson and two group lessons. I wasn't vlogging back then but you can see highlights here / 17890727806862055 Aspen is made up of four mountains: Aspen Mountain aka Ajax, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, and Buttermilk. Ajax and Highlands have mostly expert terrain (Blacks, Double Blacks, & Blues), Snowmass has Blues and Greens, and Buttermilk has the most Green runs and multiple bunny hills. Thank you for watching!
