Christ Shall Be Your Peace

Micah 5:5–15, we see Jesus revealed as the Shepherd-King who brings true peace to His people. This passage confronts shallow caricatures of Christ by presenting Him as both gentle Shepherd and conquering King—one who saves His people while triumphing over His enemies. Micah declares that Christ is our peace in two vital ways: peace before God and peace among men. Our greatest problem is not external enemies, but that apart from Christ we are enemies of God. Through the finished work of Jesus, sinners are reconciled to God and brought near by His blood. At the same time, this Shepherd does not merely comfort—He removes enemies, destroys idols, and strips away false securities that compete with trust in Him. The promise of deliverance in Micah unfolds through judgment, exile, restoration, and ultimately finds its fulfillment in Christ. God preserves a faithful remnant, spreads them among the nations, and promises final victory when Christ returns to put all His enemies under His feet.
