Cooking With History: Tudor Manchet Bread

#history #cookinghistory #tudorbread I've joined the #lockdown baking trend with something a little different: trying to recreate Tudor manchet bread. Tudor bread was very different from our own and mostly used cultures of wild yeast, sour dough, or brewing yeast for baking. My manchet was made using beer and stoneground flour from Shipton Mill, will it turn out Yea or Nea? The recipe I used came from the National Trust. Currently, they are undergoing severe pressure from the COVID-19 lockdown. They work to preserve many of Britain's finest historical treasures and they could use all the support we can give them at this point in time.
