In an age defined by speed, screens, and constant disruption, this talk invites us to pause and turn the spotlight inward. As technology accelerates, crises multiply, and innovation reshapes every corner of our lives, we are quick to blame algorithms, machines, and systems for the world’s instability. But what if the true force behind every breakthrough and every breakdown is not technology itself—but the human mind guiding it? Moving seamlessly from personal reflection to global examples, this speech challenges the audience to reconsider who truly holds power in an era of rapid change. It argues that progress without empathy, innovation without ethics, and speed without wisdom can fracture the very world we hope to improve. At its heart, this is a call for conscious disruption—one rooted not in machines, but in courage, responsibility, and the everyday choices that quietly shape our collective future. Delia is an 11-year-old Year 6 student at Questfield International College, stepping onto the TEDx Questfield Intl College Youth stage for the very first time. She loves debating, drawing, and maths, as each allows her to express herself in a unique way. Maths challenges her to think critically and solve problems creatively. Drawing lets her turn imagination into something visual and meaningful, while debating helps her share her thoughts with confidence and learn from different perspectives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
