Day 14 - Kirsten Soriano (b. 1979) - Without Words (2023) For a Loved One, Lost Without Words Calmly, Gently Composer Kirsten Soriano creates music defined by expressive depth, vivid sonic imagery, and compelling narrative. Described as “haunting, stunning, and picturesque—even ineffable” (Alison Young, Minnesota Public Radio), her work ranges from spectral to cinematic and spans orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles, dance, multimedia, and film. Soriano’s music has been performed by leading artists including the Kronos Quartet, Minnesota Orchestra, The Crossing, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Third Coast Percussion at venues such as Carnegie Hall and festivals worldwide. Her honors include awards from the Fromm Foundation at Harvard University, New Music USA, and the American Composers Forum. She is Associate Professor of Composition and Associate Dean for Operations at the University of North Texas. www.kirstensoriano.com https://resonatemusicintermedia.bandc... / kirsten.soriano.composer / kirstenbrobergcomposer Women’s History Month is a project I began to promote the music of women composers, both past and present, on each day of March. I wanted to create something that would remind us all month long of the creative presence and power of women. I aim to highlight women composers who may be unknown to the general public and introduce them to new audiences, sparking further interest in their music and their lives. 2026 is my year to focus on composers connected to Minnesota.
