Message to parents about my background as a credentialed physical education and health science teacher and about my approach for teaching "classical PE" which focuses on quality of movement to optimize both brain and body development. Let's think about what worked for generations and why it worked then repeat the best methods. Also, I'm teaching PE as in "how to fish" so students can take care of their own PE needs. I'm not here to "give them a fish" or to lead another "kid workout." I'm here to teach children and parents how to perform certain exercises properly and safely so they can create their own exercise routines and determine their own volume and intensity levels as appropriate for them and their own unique needs. My idea is to create many separate "Message to Parents" videos where I explain what is behind the "How to Exercise" videos. I believe if parents take the time to engage in their children's PE and learn what is behind "real PE" then they will be supportive and when the whole family is pulling for PE then success will be greatly enhanced. Fitness should start at home and continue for life.
