The efficiency of a solar cell determines how much of the solar power is converted to electrical power. In order to predict the solar cell efficiency before fabrication and to achieve a deeper understanding, different models have been developed for calculating the maximum energy conversion efficiency. This video discusses the Prince model. This model extends the Trivich-Flinn model by including the current-voltage characteristics of a solar cell and considering the fill factor at the maximum power point. In this first video a simple diode model is implemented. This video is part of a course offered at Kiel University for advanced engineering bachelor students.
