Happy New Year! I hope you all had the opportunity to reflect and question everything about 2020. Maybe you did some goal setting, intention setting or journaling. For myself, I looked back on all the things/moments/learning of 2020 that id like to continue to cultivate into 2021. But... Today's practice isn't about us, its a dedication practice. An opportunity for us to step away from our own intentions and think about the well-being of someone else. This fosters compassion and understanding for others and really raises our collective consciousness, so that we can come together as a community and connect with others. Gift someone with positive thoughts, energy and loving kindness for 2021. You may choose to dedicate your practice to a loved one, a stranger, someone you see at the bus stop, someone who may be giving you a hard time, someone near or far...anyone who comes to mind. Yin yoga is MAGIC. Well, that is how I would describe it. Yin yoga is a practice that that allows you to go beyond the superficial layers of the body and access the deeper layers. This means in a Yin Yoga practice you are going beyond the muscles and right into the deep connective tissues of the body. Our connective tissues are made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form our joints. Therefore, when you practice Yin Yoga you are able to increase your range of motion, your flexibility and strengthen your joints. A win win! If you ask me. Yin yoga is more than stretching, we are “stressing” the connective tissues and we do this with longer holds and intuitive breathing. When practicing always remember 1.
