This is the fifth run in my I Ran Home From… series. It started early — around 7am — with an hour of travelling in the dark, taking two buses just to get to the start line in Matlock. From there, I followed a Komoot route all the way home to North Wingfield. What I didn’t expect was just how good this run would be. Over just 15km, the route packed in more than 550 metres of climbing, quiet trails, villages, farmland, and places I’d never seen before — including an old quarry filled with water, a flooded road, and even a wrong turn that turned into one of the best views of the day. This wasn’t about pace or performance. It was about choosing the longer, more interesting way home, and seeing what was out there. If you enjoy running adventures, quiet trails, early starts, and exploring familiar places in unfamiliar ways, this one’s for you. === You can follow me on Strava, here: / strava === Please like and SUBSCRIBE for more fun running content. / @markg99 #IRHF #RunningHome #TrailRunning #RunningAdventure #UKRunning #EarlyMorningRun #RunCommute #SoloRunning #ExploreOnFoot #Komoot #TrailDiscovery #RunningJourney #RunVlog #OutdoorAdventure #UnexpectedViews #OffTheBeatenPath #QuietTrails #RunExploring #RunningLife #AdventureRunning #Matlock
