Taking Liv on her first hiking and camping trip on the Affric Kintail Way - an amazing 44 miles hike through the highlands of Scotland. The Affric Kintail Way, although not one of "Scotland's Great Trails", offers stunning views. We hiked the Affric Kintail Way starting in Drumnadrochit and walked westward to finish in Morvich. We were rewarded with stunning views of Glen Affric and Loch Affric. Day 1: Started from Drumnadrochit at 12PM after getting the train to Inverness and the bus to Drumnadrochit. Pretty bland day of walking on fire road and the main A road through forests. Camped at Cannich Woodland Campsite as we couldn't be confident of anywhere to camp immediately around Cannich. 18km/11miles Day 2: Continued on from Cannich towards Loch Affric via Dog Falls. Camped at the Western part of Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin. The views started to open up but the trail was still fire road. 17km/10 miles Day 3: Walked on the south side of Loch Affric and headed past the most remote youth hostel in the UK at Allbeithe. Camped a few hundred metres west of Allbeithe. 15km/9miles Day 4: Finished off the Affric Kintail Way through walking around Beinn Fhada on the south side. 11km/7 miles Warning: We were not able to catch the bus as planned to Glasgow from the bus stop outside of Jac-O-Bite restaurant on the side of A87 due to it being fully booked. This could've been due to the bank holiday weekend. There were seats available on the later bus to Inverness, but we decided to hitch-hike back instead. 00:00 Day 1: Drumnadrochit to Cannich 03:05 Day 2: Cannich to Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin 06:10 Day 3: Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin to Allbeithe 10:19 Day 4: Allbeithe to Morvich 12:26 Closing thoughts ___ This video and GPX is only a recording and report of my trip and is not to be used as a guide or route by others.
