The Best Braised Steak and onion recipe 😋 850g chuck steak cut Into large bite size pieces 1 onion roughly sliced 6 generous tablespoons Maggi Gravy powder ( you could substitute this with any other gravy ) 4 tablespoons cold water 1/2 litre boiled kettle water Salt and pepper 2 tablespoons worstishire sauce Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius or 160 fan forced. Once you have cut your beef and sliced the onion prepare the gravy by adding 6 generous tablespoons to a bowl with 4 tablespoons cold water and 2 tablespoons worstishire sauce. Whisk to remove any lumps then add 1/2 litre boiled kettle water and whisk again. Heat up a fry pan to a high heat. Add a couple tablespoons of oil and the beef, season with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef has browned and started developing flavours. Add the onion and saute for a couple minutes. Add the gravy we prepared earlier, pop on a lid or cover with foil. Bake for 2 hours or until the meat is tender. If the gravy is looking too thick during cooking you can just add a little more water to thin out. Serve with fresh bread or dinner rolls, mash, pasta or rice.
