Papaya cooked in a buttermilk-based curry is called "Papaya Moru Curry" or "Papaya Pulissery" in Kerala. Ingredients Needed Green Papaya: 1 cup (cut into small pieces) Curd/Yogurt: 1 cup (thick) Water: As needed (about 1/2 to 1 cup) Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp Salt: To taste For the Paste (to grind) Grated Coconut: 1/2 cup Cumin Seeds: 1/2 tsp Green Chillies: 2-3 Garlic: 2 cloves Ginger: A small piece For Tempering Coconut Oil: 2 tbsp Mustard Seeds: 1/2 tsp Shallots (Small Onions): 2-3 (chopped) Dry Red Chillies: 2-3 Curry Leaves: A sprig Instructions Cook the Papaya: In a pot, add the papaya pieces, turmeric powder, required salt, and water. Cook until the papaya is soft and tender. Prepare the Paste: Grind the grated coconut, cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic, and ginger with a little water into a fine paste. Add the Paste: Add this ground coconut paste to the cooked papaya and simmer for 2 minutes on a low flame. Turn off the heat once it starts to boil. Add the Curd: Whisk the curd/yogurt well and add it to the curry mixture. It is important to add the curd after turning off the heat. Mix well. Temper the Curry: In a separate small pan, heat the coconut oil. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add the chopped shallots, dry red chillies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the shallots turn golden brown. Finish: Pour the tempering mixture into the main curry pot and mix thoroughly. #food #cooking #moringasuperfood #recipe #
