CARs are a tool taught and implemented by Functional Range Systems and FRC practitioners. 🚩Remember never to move through pain or restriction on the short side of a joint. When in doubt, reduce the range of motion or simply skip the section of the CAR that feels restricted. When performing CARs, the intention is to move through the outer limits of your range of motion with as little compensation (help) from other surrounding joints as possible. We use CARs for three main reasons 1. Assessing a person's healthy, active 'workspace' and joint function. 2. Daily maintenance of joint health and range of motion. (Think of CARs like brushing your teeth, but for your joints!) 3. Training the joint capsule and joint workspace directly to improve the joint quality and the quality of information the joint provides to the nervous system. CARs can be performed at varying irradiation levels, with or without loading, and in various body positions to achieve desired outcomes. We highly recommend performing your CARs daily to maintain healthy joints!
