ZACHEM and REED SCORED DERBY WINS In the Wall SK Modified Derby, Max Zacham grabbed the lead within the first five laps of the scheduled 100-lap main event. He built an early advantage as other drivers conserved their tires. Meanwhile, Steven Reed, already a two-time Derby winner, paced himself and steadily climbed through the field. With just two laps to go, Dakota Kessler got in the leaders’ way, causing Zacham’s hopes for victory to vanish when he spun into the tire barriers, ending his race. Reed then took over the lead and held off a fiercely competitive Matt Hirschman to claim his third Derby win. Two years ago, after Reed’s previous Derby victory, he was met with boos from the crowd. This time, however, there were no such reactions. Behind Reed and Hirschman, Tyler Truex finished third, Blake Barney placed fourth, and Jimmy Blewett made a remarkable comeback from medical setbacks to bring the Lane #24 home in fifth place. Austin Beers, who won the Tour title, drove the Blewett #5 to sixth. Former champion Anthony Sesely finished seventh, followed by Eddie McCarthy in eighth, Derek Hopkinson in ninth, and James Blewett with his patriotic #76 rounded out the top ten. Less than a day after his disappointment with the Wall SK Modified, Zacham found redemption by overtaking defending winner Timmy Solomito with fewer than 15 laps remaining, earning an emotional victory. Trevor Catalano and Matt Swanson followed, while SK Mod winner Steven Reed brought home the Krause backup #24 for fifth. James Blewett had a satisfying weekend, finishing tenth in the SK race and sixth overall. Stafford regular Steven Kopcik took seventh, Track Champion Tyler Truex drove the Ricco #11 to eighth, Anthony Sesely secured ninth, and Carsten DiGiantamasso completed the top ten. Kevin Davidson claimed victory in the shortened 602 Sportsman Main Event. Tyler Ferris successfully defended his Turkey Derby win in the TQ. In the Fast 4, Ian Ashford was named the winner after Carlos Grenier (the apparent winner), Ryan Zukowski, Billy Pross, and Corey Edelman all failed post-race inspection.
