The cellar hole out in the woods was the spot where a house sat from the 1700s up into the late 1800s and has been deserted since. We have been metal detecting here for years but it has become more difficult to find old relics. So today I took my Fisher F19 , shovel and decided to pit dig beside the cellar hole. I dug a trench about 30 feet wide, 3 feet across and went down about 18 inches in some spots. Old bricks, nails, pottery, china window glass and a few great finds. this site like most in NH was abandoned after the civil war and then are back to forest. they logged here in the early 1900s so there is that mix of things that can be found but it shows the loggers pushed half this cellar in. I spent a few hours and found a really nice padlock amongst other pieces but it goes to show the things are there and deep. This is one way to find more at spots that have become difficult to find things metal detecting.
