In order to improve our splits flexibility, we need to develop more strength & conditioning in our most lengthened end ranges of the position. This video provides you with the best strategy I know for training strength in the side split. Utilizing short intervals of isometric contractions, we can safely provide our body with the stimulus it needs to remodel our muscle tissues so that we can have easier access to our end ranges - and ultimately unlock new range over time! And what's great about this exercise, is that it's extremely effective at all levels! Whether this is your first time training the splits directly, or you just need to unlock those last few inches, this exercise will serve you well. Make sure to start at an appropriate height for your current level of ability, and gradually progress deeper into the position from there.
