Rather unusually, despite a barrier renewal within the last six years or so, the pulsing mechanical bells still remain in operation at this level crossing, this one sounding particularly nice. This is the only remaining crossing with bells inside this newer kind of barrier, in the South East at least, since a renewal at a level crossing in Canterbury saw the demise of those. This also has telephones to contact the signaller at the nearby signal box, something you don't get that often on this kind of level crossing. Still, it's a very good idea to have them here.
