Among the musicians that played recording sessions the most with Leon Russell were drummer Hal Blaine and guitarist Glen Campbell. From a nighttime April 4, 1963 session with Jack Nitzsche as arranger, here are the three of them on "(Dance With The) Surfin' Band" written by Hal Blaine. Billy Strange, Tommy Tedesco and Bill Pitman were also on guitars with Ray Pohlman and James Bond on the bottom end. With Hal on drums, Frank Capp added percussion. It went on a single by Hal with "The Drummer Plays for Me" from the same session. The latter song was written by Lee Hazlewood, who also produced them both along with two other songs, one being "The Dip," a rarity that was left unissued until the 2001 cd reissue of Hal's album Deuces, "T's," Roadsters & Drums. "The Dip" is on this YouTube channel. The singers on them are Darlene Love and The Blossoms.
