Date(s) filmed: Sunday the 22nd & Monday the 23rd of June 2025 Videos filmed at: 19:35 / 09:30 Route: West of England Line Pinhoe (PIN) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: Pinn Lane, Exeter (EX1 3SE) A level crossing on the West of England Line beside Pinhoe Railway Station in Pinhoe, Exeter. This level crossing in its current form dates back to re-signalling in late-2012, is controlled from Exmouth Junction, and is the last level crossing before Exeter St. David's on the West of England Line from London via Salisbury. There are two alarms here which sound at a decent volume for the crossing's environment, sound quite neat together, and there's a total of 5 sets of LED wigwags here, whereas before an off-side wigwag simply faced towards the small parking area beside the station. As is the case with a number of crossings in the area that were renewed in 2012, the barriers bear blue nameplates for the crossing, a distinctive feature that not many other crossings elsewhere have, with the ones here all still present and in remarkably good condition. Trains are timetabled to meet each other here, so the crossing typically only closes once an hour. The only exceptions to this are when the trains off of Exeter get delayed, or in-bound trains from London get delayed so much that it's worth letting the other go through on time and having them cross each other elsewhere.
