ABOUT THIS TALK “Oh, you’re the writer. We‘ll let you know when the designs are done, then send it over to you for the words.” This is how work gets presented to a UX Writer (a lot). Many see us as “word-fillers” reactively writing words into constrained spaces — and it‘s why we struggle in our roles. But anyone can write words (and many people at your company already do). So how is a UX Writer different? SPEAKER From newspapers to marketing, instructional design to microcopy, Josh has written a lot of words in all kinds of formats. And UX writing is his favorite. He has worked as a UX Writer/Content Designer on national and global designs for apps, websites, and tools at Apple, Enjoy, and Essential. He has also worked as a contract UX Writer at Google and Intuit. And currently, he’s the UX Writer/Content Designer at Opendoor. He likes writing so much, he does it outside of work, too — creating sketch comedy in his spare time. Some of it’s even funny. Oh, and Chuck Norris once babysat him (do with that info what you will).
