I'm back! Thank you so much for watching! Please Like, Share, & Subscribe! Mel Brooks’ masterpiece Blazing Saddles. It’s a comedy classic with a great story to tell both comedically and socially. Watch it, even if you’ve seen it before. And especially watch for the “bean scene” that inspired this recipe. Mongo Beans 1lb thick cut bacon cut about ½” 1lb boneless pork shoulder, cubed about ½” 1lb ground beef (80/20 is best) 3 medium onions, rough chopped 2.5oz bourbon 1 heaping tablespoon minced garlic 4 links smoked beef sausage, sliced 5 15oz cans beans of choice (not sauced), drained 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce of choice ¼ cup mustard of choice ¼ cup hot sauce of choice (more if you choose) 1/3 cup light brown sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1. In a high sided frying pan, cook the bacon over medium heat until it is super crispy. Remove from the pan onto some paper towel to sop up the excess grease. Pour the extra grease from the pan into a heat resistant container and save that flavor for later use if you choose. 2. In the same pan, over medium-high heat, brown the pork shoulder, then remove with a slotted spoon to a bowl. 3. In the same pan, add the ground beef and brown thoroughly. Remove with a slotted spoon to the bowl with the pork. Drain off any excessive grease, leaving a little in the pan 4. Return the pan to the medium-high heat and add the onions. Sprinkle on a pinch of salt to draw out the water. Mix that in and add the bourbon. Continue to saute until the onions become translucent. Add the garlic, turn off the heat and saute for a minute. Remove from the heat. 5. Drain your beans! 6. In a large slow cooker, add all the meats, the onions and the remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours. Do not open the lid or stir. 7. Once it’s done, serve it up. Or let it set overnight, and reheat in the oven or in a saucepan. Bone apple yeet!
