More people in work and higher productivity from those workers, will – all else being equal – increase local economic growth. Skills are an important driver of productivity and support incomes and living standards. And skills are a key part of the Government’s drive to improve productivity—we’ve seen devolved Adult Education Budgets to combined authorities, the proposal of V-levels, and the recent Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper. However, understanding the data around skills can be difficult. Join us for an overview of how to understand your local skills performance from our Deputy Director of Evidence, Victoria Sutherland, after which we’ll have an opportunity to ask questions. These short one-hour sessions complement our new ‘how to’ guide, Understanding local economic performance: Skills, to be published soon. These sessions are aimed at policymakers who want to make good use of evidence but are pressed for time and may not have support from data analysts.
