originally recorded on 6-28-21 Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. After catching the CSX mixed freight, we were heading back into Cordele when we saw this southbound NS mixed freight approaching, so we beat it over to this crossing we'd been at earlier since I suspected it might've had a GS Type 1. Here we see this mixed freight crawling through Cordele with an AC44C6M leading a Dash-9 and an SD70ACe, the latter of which had its ditch lights on, for some reason. After this, we got the remaining crossings on the CSX Fitzgerald Subdivision documented, and tried to get at least one more train on it, but the line sadly went dead, making this our last train of the day. This crossing's a pretty nice one, at least for an NS crossing around Cordele. The signals here are a late-90s install from NS, and the only major change to them is that the lights were all upgraded to LED sometime recently, which was done to every crossing along this NS line, it appears (certainly in Cordele, at least). Thankfully though, the crossing does still retain its original GS Type 1, so that's nice to see. Hopefully it remains around for a good while longer, as it's probably the most interesting bell on the NS line in Cordele as all of the mechanical bells have long since been replaced. This is also the northermost crossing on the NS in Cordele.
