RD21774(vid). This is the first part of a video of the Ffestiniog Railway shot at Porthmadog Harbour station on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st May, 2021. After a covid-enforced absence I was glad to get back to Wales and see the Ffestiniog and Welsh highland Railways back in action once again. Only a limited service could be offered, with the Ffestiniog trains only running as far as Tanybwlch and the Welsh Highland trains only going as far as Beddgelert. Despite this it is worth having a ride as the trains stop at Tanybwlch for an hour and rather longer at Beddgelert. The Beyer-Garratt rostered to work the Porthmadog – Beddgelert trains was in the works for repairs, so a pair of Double Fairlie 0-4-4-0Ts were substituted for a couple of days and this video starts with DAVID LLOYD GEORGE and MERDDIN EMRYS departing from Harbour Station. Ex Penrhyn Quarry Railway Hunslet 2-4-0ST/T BLANCHE, and George England 0-4-0ST/T PALMERSTON are seen collecting their trains from the carriage sidings and propelling them back into the station before departing for Tanybwlch with their ‘Woodland Wanderer’ trains.
