Let's cook and compare recipes for hwe dup bap (S. Korea), poke (Hawaii, US) and maguro/sake zuke-don (Japan). These three sushi bowls are notable ones from these countries maybe except for Japan as they have a lot more sushi bowls (sashimi + donburi and chirashi don). Poke is a well-known sushi bowl from Hawaii that everyone loves here in the US. Hwe dup bap is a lesser known sushi bowl from South Korea but is amazing with its bold vinegary gochujang sauce. Zuke don (maguro + sake) is nice and simple. Let me know which one is your favorite in the comment section! Ingredients: HWE DUP BAP: Sauce: 2 tbsp gochujang, 2 tbsp apple cider or rice vinegar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbp light soy, 2 tsp brown sugar, 2 minced garlic, 1 tsp gochugaru Fish: tuna, salmon, or white fish such as red snapper 1/3 cup of cooked rice Condiments: nori, carrot, cucumber, purple cabbage, lettuce, daikon sprouts, red onion, sesame seeds, tobiko POKE: Sauce/marinade: 2 tbsp light soy, 2 tbsp mirin, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 2 tsp brown sugar, lemon juice from 1/2 lemon Fish: tuna, salmon Marinate fish with the above sauce and 2 tbsp of chopped red onion 1/3 cup of cooked rice Picked cucumber: 1 cup water, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp salt Seaweed salad: 1 cup dried stringly wakame or hijiki, hot water, 1 tsp light soy, 2 tsp mirin, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp brown sugar Condiments: radish, seaweed salad, carrot, edamame, purple cabbage, avocado, jalapeño, pickled cucumber slices, sesame seeds, green onion, shiso leaves, tobiko ZUKE DON: Sauce/marinade: 2/3 cup water, 2 tbsp light soy, konbu, 2 tbsp mirin, 1 tsp brown sugar, grated ginger Fish: tuna or salmon. The name of the dish changes depending on the dish. For example, maguro zuke don for tuna and sake zuke don for salmon. 1/3 cup of cooked rice Condiments: wasabi, nori, daikon radish, daikon sprouts, green onion, sesame seeds, raw egg yolk (optional) #sushibowl #hwedupbap #poke #ahipoke #pokerecipe #hwedupbaprecipe
