Sat | 4:30 PM–5:00 PM ET Andrew Perry; Springfield College, Springfield MA USA Abstract: There are a plethora of ways that artificial intelligence (AI) can be useful to a differential equations instructor. For example, AI can generate exercises and model solutions, generate graphics, and even suggest modeling projects. Of course, AI answers are not completely reliable and must be verified. One way to assess the trustworthiness of an AI response is to compare its answer with other free or paid AI models (for example, ChatGPT Pro, ChatGPT Free Models, Claude, and Gemini). Comparison of the models is intriguing in its own right and helps the users understand the strengths and weaknesses of different models. We will consider the models' varying responses to common queries that differential equations instructor might make and their implications for best practices in AI-enhanced differential equations instruction.
