Learn how to make Chatpata Aloo Ka Bharta 🥔🌶️, a quick and delicious desi mashed potato recipe that is full of flavor and spices. This traditional Pakistani & Indian side dish 🇵🇰🇮🇳 is made with boiled potatoes, onions, green chilies, and aromatic spices to create a tangy, spicy, and comforting dish. Aloo Bharta is perfect for lunch 🍽️, dinner 🏡, or as a side dish with roti 🫓, paratha, or dal. It is simple, budget-friendly, and ready in just a few minutes Ingredients Potatoes – ½ kg (boiled) (crushed by hands later) Onion – 1 medium size – (finely chopped) Tomatoes- 3 medium sized – (finely chopped) Garlic – 4 or 5 pieces- (finely cut) Green chilies – 3 (finely cut) Coriander leaves- one handful Coriander seeds (whole) - 2 tsp White cumin seeds (whole) – 2 tsp (1 tsp is grinded in spice mix and 1 tsp is put in the cooking process) Ajwain – ¾ tsp Black pepper (whole) – ½ tsp Red chilies (whole) – 5 Turmeric powder- 1 ½ tsp Salt – 2 tsp Chaat masala - 1 tsp Oil – ½ cup Recipe Put a frying pan on medium to high flame and add coriander seeds, white cumin seeds, Ajwain, whole black pepper and whole red chilies to roast them. Then after cooling a little grind these all together as shown in video but keep it unrefined (not grinded into powder mix but still grinded where a few solid bites can be seen). Now in a bowl put boiled and peeled potatoes and hand crush them so the lumps remain uneven as shown in the video. Now put frying pan on medium to high flame and pour oil into it. Once it’s heated put white cumin seeds and stir. Now add finely chopped garlic into the pan and stir. After a while when garlic changes color add finely chopped onions into the pan and mix and stir. Now after a while add half the finely chopped tomatoes as they need to be cooked into the gravy completely. Now add turmeric powder, salt and chaat masala into the pan and mix and stir to cook. Now add the remaining finely chopped tomatoes into the pan and mix. These will show in chunk form and won’t be fully dissolved in the gravy. Now add the spices you grided initially into the pan and mix. Cook rigorously. Now add the hand crushed boiled potatoes into the pan and mix and cook rigorously for everything to combine properly. Also press the potato lumps while cooking with cooking spoon so they all can cook and mix with the gravy evenly as shown in video. Cook for 6 to 8 mins so that everything comes together in a nice way. Then add coriander leaves into the pan and mix to add a pop of green in it. Cook for another 2 mins. The delish potato bharta is ready to enjoy. Eat it in whatever way you feel like.
