Most golfers lose width in the backswing because the trail arm gets pulled too far behind the body. When that happens, the arms disconnect from the body, space disappears, and golfers are forced to flip, cast, or throw the club early on the downswing. This often leads to common swing problems like getting stuck, losing forward shaft lean at impact, inconsistent ball striking, thin shots, fat shots, and poor compression. In this lesson, I explain how maintaining trail arm width and shoulder external rotation helps create a more connected backswing, improves sequencing, and makes it easier to shallow the club and strike the ball solidly. When the arms stay structured and connected to the body, golfers can maintain width, control the clubface, and deliver the club with better shaft lean, more compression, and more consistent contact. In this video you’ll learn: • Why the trail arm bends too much in the backswing • How losing width causes golfers to get stuck in the downswing • The correct trail arm structure at the top of the backswing • How shoulder external rotation affects backswing mechanics • Why this movement helps prevent casting and flipping • How better structure helps you shallow the club and improve ball striking Then we train it with practical movement drills: ✔ A mobility screen to determine if it’s a physical limitation ✔ A conditioning drill to improve shoulder external rotation ✔ A rope flow drill to train arm structure, rhythm, and sequencing ✔ A golf swing drill to apply the movement immediately If you struggle with casting the club, getting stuck in the downswing, losing width in the backswing, or inconsistent ball contact, this video will show you how to improve your swing structure and start striking the ball more consistently. 🎯 Free Rope Flow Training for Golfers Preview the movement patterns we train inside the full program: https://preview.mailerlite.io/preview...
