What does God love most, and does my life reflect it? In this message, Tim Crowley walks through a powerful truth: God’s tests are not designed to destroy us, they reveal what rules us, and they always reveal God’s faithfulness. From Abraham’s obedience in Genesis 22, to the bigger story of redemption, we see that surrender comes first, and God’s faithfulness follows. Then Tim asks the question that reshapes everything: What does God love more than anything else? Scripture answers it clearly. God loves people (you and me)! "The heartbeat of Heaven is to rescue the lost. When we love what God loves, we will love people the way Jesus does - intentional, relational, present, and full of grace and truth." This message also calls believers to live differently. We're called to reflect Jesus, not mirror the world. That means holiness is not optional, our words matter, our attitude should look like Christ, and our love should be unmistakable. You’ll also walk away after this message with a clear, practical list of 7 ways to shine in this lost world that needs hope and purpose, including praying for the lost, listening to the Holy Spirit, watching for divine appointments, and using simple invitations to help people take their next step toward Jesus. 📖 Scriptures Shared: Genesis 22:1-2 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love - Isaac - and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Genesis 22:3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey and… he set out for the place God had told him about. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” John 1:45-50 (summary) Philip tells Nathanael about Jesus. Jesus reveals He saw Nathanael under the fig tree, and Nathanael responds, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God - the King of Israel!” John 3:1-3 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus… He came to Jesus at night… Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 4:13-14 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” Colossians 3:5, 8 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry… rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 1 Peter 1:15-16 Just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Philippians 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 16:14 Do everything in love. 1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Seven Ways to Shine in a Lost World: 1. Ask God to give you His heart. 2. Open your eyes - there are needs all around you. 3. You have a story - be prepared to share that story. 4. Ask God for divine appointments. 5. Pray for the lost (who is your one?). 6. Listen to the Holy Spirit. 7. Use invite cards - God will use that card to get them here. 💡 Key Takeaway: Loving what God loves means loving people like Jesus loves, and living in a way that makes Jesus visible. God’s tests do not destroy His people, they form them and reveal His faithfulness. 🎯 Call to Action: Ask God to give you His heart for the lost. Choose your one person to pray for. Ask for divine appointments, listen to the Holy Spirit, and take one simple step of obedience this week to love like Jesus. 📲 If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs hope and leave a comment about what God is challenging you to do. 🔔 Subscribe to Joy Church Bend and turn on notifications so you don’t miss new messages. 📍 Join us in Bend, Oregon or online each week.
