Band Syndrome (or Ilio-Tibial Band Syndrome) and we'll give you some tips to recover from it, because there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to finish your run because of pain. While these tips and videos do not replace a visit to a health professional for a proper diagnosis, you'll find two exercises and two stretches that you can try, to help reduce and even remove the symptoms completely. Around the hip joint, there are two main muscles competing for strength. When one of those two muscles (called the TFL) becomes stronger than the other (the glutes maximus - buttock muscle), it creates an imbalance that is going to pull a band of fibers (called the IT Band) upwards and forwards, and that IT Band is in turn going to rub against the outside of your knee every time you use the strong TFL muscle. To fix the imbalance, you primarily need to strengthen the weaker muscle and stretch the stronger muscle. Please feel free to comment if you have questions. Really hope this can helps!
