Dr. Patterson will discuss cellular reservoirs, viral persistence, and emerging diagnostics and treatments. Dr. Bruce Patterson is a renowned virologist and molecular biologist. He received his MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by a residency in pathology. Dr. Patterson has conducted groundbreaking research on HIV/AIDS, discovering key insights into viral reservoirs and immune system destruction. He has served as Associate Professor of Pathology and Infectious Diseases and Director of Virology at Stanford University. Currently, he is the CEO and founder of IncellDx Inc., where he develops state-of-the-art single-cell diagnostics for cancer, immuno-oncology, and infectious diseases, including #COVID-19. Dr. Patterson's work has been published in prestigious journals and featured in major media outlets. Your host, Dr. Binita Kane is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT) and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. She has a PhD in airways disease and a Master's in Healthcare Leadership. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a pivotal role on the front lines, setting up the first step-down COVID oximetry at home virtual ward in England and leading the cross-system Manchester and Trafford COVID-19 virtual ward program. She co-authored the British Thoracic Society COVID-19 guidance for community teams and advised NHS England on strategic issues related to the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on minority ethnic groups. Dr. Kane's personal experience with her daughter's Long COVID has driven her to become a campaigner, researcher, patient advocate, and champion for the Long COVID Kids charity.
