http://www.davidgarrigues.com The material on this video will help you give yourself an adjustment in this extra challenging second series posture. Using a post gives you the ability to create a dynamic opposition between your arms and legs. Using this leverage judiciously will encourage hip flexibility. To maximally target your hips in this work remember to keep your legs bent to a right angle when you attempt to take them behind your head. By right angle I mean that you want to keep your thigh and shin perpendicular to each other. The first exercise is the easiest because you do it with one leg at a time instead both legs together. Therefore stay with the first exercise for some time until you get a good feeling for this group of exercises. When taking both legs up the post work your legs as high up on your shoulders as possible but don’t take the first leg behind your head (even if you can do so) because then you won’t be able to get the second leg in position. Instead bring both feet up the post to a spot above (and not behind) your head. Once your feet are in position on the post, then you can attempt to ‘duck’ under your legs so that they go behind your head. Remember to be gentle, to use caution and discernment when pulling on the post with your fingers as you lift up your torso. Work patiently without ego and ambition.
