Across the weekend of the 8th-10th of August, the Bluebell would celebrate its 65th anniversary. To celebrate the Bluebell would hold a three day event with an intensive timetable with all seven of the railways operational fleet all running trains also with a cavalcade as the finale of the gala, replicating the last one which took place in 2010. Terrier 55 ‘Stepney’ would also make a little voyage out of it’s usual place in steam works, being put on display alongside fellow Terrier ‘Fenchurch’. All seven of the railways homefleet would run during this event but in order to allow all these locos to run, the line had to be split into two. With the smaller locos taking part in a shuttle service effectively from Horsted Keynes to Sheffield Park with the larger locos running from Horsted to East Grinstead. 73082, 34059 & 33108 would largely the northern part of the line while 32424, 65, 72 & 80151 would be kept to the southern half albeit 65 & 72 did do a run each north of Horsted in the end. The inclusion of the visiting 33 was to replace a fallen solider of the our fleet being the 73 ED040 ‘The Bluebell Railway’. Originally scheduled to take part this gala, she unfortunately failed so was shunted to sit on the naughty step outside Horsted, but looking on to what she missed. A special thank you must be given to the Bluebell Railway staff who gave me permission to go to the pits so I could get cleaner shots of Fenchurch and Stepney together.
