Quick test of the offensive potential of a soul taker necromancer against the eastern frontier grawls. Immediately wipes balling foes due to its enormeous area damage potential. Linebacks a bit (and reduces its own offensive potential) by causing scattering. Requires additional backline attention compared to other frontline builds. Performance against single targets is still good. Setup time even with zero seconds activation time enchantments burdensome. General experience with this build (type) so far: Deals more damage than any other melee character but still takes more time to complete content because a) a more defensive team builds are recommendable for stability and b) assassins or dervishes or warriors start attacking foes 4-5 seconds sooner than this necromancer as they have barely any setup time or none at all. Thus they can start killing foes together with the heroes instead of cleaning up the leftovers after a couple of seconds. The late start is also bad for positioning foes, unless the player lets his entire team wait 4-5 seconds so he's ready to go in first. That's rather unsatisfying. Alongside a heroic refrain paragon this already powerful build has 20 in both death magic and soul reaping while keeping the required 12 wind prayers, resulting in great single target damage and area damage that's rather ridiculous. Paragon, two necromancers and a supporting team should be faster at clearing endgame content than contagion style team builds and competitive with or superior to standard pug compositions. However, so far I don't really see an application with heroes that could compete with native melee professions. This build will require a specialized hero team featuring additional healing compared to normal builds and probably less melee support. This build already is a permanent and improved splinter weapon and will likely benefit more from additional mesmers. A single copy of strength of honour can easily be brought by a mesmer (OQNFAawOOyH0LACYeGJQ8w8ARAHE), E/Mo (see video) or other character in the team and might already suffice.
