Recorded Live on - Thu, March 25, 2021 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM CST MCIC invited staff and member organizations to join an online learning session with special guest, Rebecca Chartrand, Vice President of Indspire to speak on Truth and Reconciliation, Anti-racism and internationalization. The purpose of this session was to gain perspective on ways to meaningfully include Indigenous students in our educational workshops and programming, and ways to attract and mentor Indigenous employees within our organizations. Setting the context of inclusion within an explanation of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, Rebecca discussed anti-racism and internationalization in the context of literature and lived experience and analyzed their intersectionality. She encouraged viewers to “hold the mirror up” for self-reflection, to start difficult conversations and highlighted the need for action in anti-racism efforts and work toward inclusion.
