PERCEIVE Talks: A Webinar Series on Caring, Preserving and Experiencing Colour in Cultural Heritage EPISODE 6 The PERCEIVE textile scenario addresses the challenges of preserving museum textiles dyed with natural and synthetic colorants, which fade and degrade over time, altering their original appearance. By reconstructing their aesthetics and simulating further degradation through scientific investigations, the research enhances public appreciation and informs museum conservation strategies. This webinar will present the case studies, including a faded silk kimono and a printed cotton dress and on the acquisition of non-invasive spectroscopic, colorimetric, and imaging data from both historical collections and artificially aged textile mock-ups. Moderator: Lucia Burgio, Lead Conservation Scientist at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, where she heads the Science laboratory and guides the scientific analysis of museum objects. Speakers: Brenda Doherty, researcher at the Italian National Research Council’s Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies (CNR-SCITEC). Catarina Pinto, researcher at the Italian National Research Council's Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies (CNR-SCITEC).
