The Andrew and Virginia Rudd Research and Professional Practice Centre at the University of Cambridge present this short, community film by community filmmaker Rhi Forbes, Showcasing Community Support - Highlighting the Needs of Those Most in Need. Introduced by Gordon Harold, Professor of the Psychology of Education and Mental Health and Director of the Rudd Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. The Rudd Centre exists to highlight the support needs of families, children and young people who experience disadvantage or adversity though the conduct of world-leading research. The translation or application of research to real world contexts in order to improve outcomes is the primary objective or purpose of the Centre. This film highlights the vital work of some of our regional partners directed towards this important objective. Presently, it's estimated that 1 in 3 children living in England experience daily poverty, we know that poverty and day to day economic stress is associated with poor mental health outcomes. It's estimated that 1 in 4 children and young people living in the United Kingdom experience serious mental health problems. The inspiring work of the charities and groups featured, speak to some of the most pressing issues in our society today. Securing sustainable support for their work has never been more important.
