Tadeusz Faliszewski & Ork. Syrena Rekord – Płomienne serca (The Blazing Hearts) Boston z f-mu “Na Sybir” (Engl. Waltz from the movie „To Siberia”) ) Muz. Henryk Wars, Tekst: Marian Hemar, Syrena –Electro 1930 (Polish) NOTE: Tadeusz Faliszewski – one of the most popular Polish prewar pop-singers – sings one of the most beautiful tunes composed by Henryk Wars, with lyrics written by a distinguished Polish poet, Marian Hemar (who was writing also for the cabarets and theatres in prewar Lwów and Warsaw). The film “Na Sybir” (To Siberia) is a love drama about Polish patriot (performed by prominent actor, Adam Brodzisz) who takes part in the anti-Tzarist revolution in Russia in 1905 to contribute to the collapse of the Russian empire (which then occupied the large part of Poland, including Warsaw). His associate in the clandestine activity is a beautiful Polish aristocrat Rena (played by the megastar of prewar Polish cinema, Jadwiga Smosarska) and they become lovers. When the conspiracy is revealed, they are arrested and sentenced banishment to Siberia, yet Rena as an aristocrat is given a chance for mitigation of her verdict. She rejects it and both of them are transported to farwaway wilderness to share love as well as hardships of exile. (Fortunately, the outbreak of the 1st World War soon changed all that in 1914).
