Do you believe life is a gift from God...or do you see it as "it's all mine"? In Part 4 of our Faithfulness to Fruitfulness series, Pastor Ben Miller teaches that fruitfulness starts with trust, and trust starts when we settle the “ownership dispute.” When we see life as a gift from God, we steward it differently - our marriage, kids, time, money, talents, health, and calling. You’ll hear why the “it’s all mine” thinking leads to anxiety and damage, and why “it’s all a gift” leads to peace and purpose. From relationships to resources, this message is a heart check on stewardship, generosity, and building trust with the Lord. And if you know you’ve missed it in an area, you’ll also hear God’s path forward: Repent, reset, and walk in obedience again. 📖 Scriptures Shared: Genesis 1:27-31 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created a male and female. He created them. Then God blessed them and he said this: be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground. Then God said, look, I have given. I have given you every seed bearing plant throughout the earth and the fruit trees for your food. I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals and the birds of the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground, everything that has life and that is what happened. Then God looked over all that he had made, and he saw that it was very good. Proverbs 18:22 The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. Psalm 127:3 Children are a gift from the Lord and a reward from him. Deuteronomy 8:18 But remember the Lord your God, for he’s the one who gives you the ability to produce wealth. James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God, our Father, who created all the lights in heaven, the night sky and the sun and the moon and all of these things. Luke 21:1-4 While Jesus was in the temple, he watched rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then this poor widow came by and she drops two small coins. “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them, for they have given a tiny part of their surplus. But she, poor as she is, has given everything that she has.” Luke 16:10-12 If you are faithful with little things, you will be faithful in the large ones. And if you are dishonest in the little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you’re untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who’s going to trust you with true riches in heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why would you be trusted with things of your own? Matthew 25:21 The master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things, but now I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share in your master’s happiness.” Malachi 3:10-12 Bring all the tithes in the storehouse, so there will be enough food in my temple. If you do, says the Lord of heaven’s armies, I will open the window of heaven for you. And I’m going to pour out blessings so great on you that you wouldn’t have enough room to take it in. Try it. Put me to the test. Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe, says the Lord of heaven’s armies. Then all the nations will look at you, and they will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight, says the Lord of heaven’s armies. Acts 2:38 Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God. Be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift - another gift of the Holy Spirit. 💡 Key Takeaway: Faithfulness is how trust is built. When we see everything as a gift from God and steward it His way, fruit grows in our lives. What we do today matters for eternity! 🎯 Call to Action: Ask the Lord this week, “Where have I been living like it’s all mine?” Choose 1 small, specific act of trust and obedience, and if you need a reset, just ask Him for forgiveness, repent and start again today. 📲 Share this message with someone who needs encouragement, and leave a comment about what God is growing in you through this series. 🔔 Subscribe to Joy Church Bend for more Spirit-filled, Bible-based messages. 📍 Join us in Bend, Oregon or online each week.
