What if the fruit you are praying for is connected to where you are planted? In Part 3 of our Faithfulness to Fruitfulness series, Pastor Gareth Gilpin (Pastor Abundant Life Church and friend of Joy Church Bend) teaches a powerful and biblical truth from Psalm 92: We flourish when we are planted in the house of the Lord. Church was never meant to be a consumer experience or a weekly option. It is a sacred partnership with God’s presence and God’s people, and it is one of the primary places God forms us into who we are becoming. From Genesis to Exodus to Jesus and the early Church, we see the consistent heartbeat of God: I want to be present with My people. That is why the Church matters. Not as a building, but as a spiritual house made of living stones, where Jesus is building His Church and shaping His people for fruitfulness. Pastor Gareth also highlights 4 priestly practices that move us from being “rolling stones” to living stones built together for God’s purpose: 1) Show up and bring an offering 2) Invest yourself 3) Join a life group 4) Come under the covering of the Church If you have ever felt stuck, distracted, disconnected, or spiritually dry, this message will call you back to the place where roots go deep, faith grows steady, and fruit begins to form over time. 📖 Scriptures Shared: Psalm 92:12-14 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree...planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green. Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. John 1:14 The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. John 20:21-22 Jesus breathes on His disciples and says: “Receive the Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? Exodus 33:14-17 “If Your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here... What else will distinguish me and Your people?” Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church.” Ephesians 5:25 Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 3:10-11 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. Exodus 12:1-3 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household.” 1 Peter 2:5 You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:24-25 Do not give up meeting together... but encourage one another. Ephesians 4:16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Hebrews 13:17-18 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Pray for us... 💡 Key Takeaway: Fruitfulness is often the result of faithfulness to the place God plants you. When we stay rooted in God’s presence and connected to God’s people, our lives begin to flourish over time. 🎯 Call to Action: Ask God where you need to get planted again. Then take one next step this week: show up with intention, bring an offering of worship, invest yourself, join a group, and step into healthy covering. Faithfulness in the small places produces fruit in the long run. 📲 Share this message with someone who needs encouragement, and leave a comment about what God is speaking to you in this series. 🔔 Subscribe to Joy Church Bend for more Spirit-filled, Bible-based messages that will strengthen your faith. 📍 Join us in person in Bend, Oregon or online each week.
